What inspires you?
I am inspired by the vitality and perseverance of the human spirit. Every day, I am awed by the hardships that people overcome, by the prejudices and obstacles they rise above, and by the courage and optimism they display.

How do you think other people describe you?
Short (as in stature), energetic, nurturing, loyal

What do you like to do in your free time?
Garden, exercise, travel, hang out with family and friends

What is your favorite food?
Hmm. Tough to narrow down. I’ll go with bread.

What is your favorite restaurant?
Café Rustica in Carmel Valley

What’s the most interesting thing about you that most people don’t know?
I was a championship fencer in high school in New Jersey.

At which store would you like to max-out your credit card?
Green Acres Nursery

What was your favorite TV show when growing up?
First "Romper Room," then Bonanza, the "The Monkees"

Can you play any instruments? If so, which ones?
Piano and guitar — both very badly.

What is your superpower?
The ability to stay happy and upbeat even when the world is crumbling around me.

You find a lottery ticket that ends up winning $10 million. What would you do?
Probably try to return it to its rightful owner, while not so secretly hoping that he or she will give me a finder’s fee, or at least contribute some money to a charity or two of my choice.

Who is your female hero?
My fraternal grandmother. She was an entrepreneur and businesswoman in the 1920s, long before most women assumed either of those roles. And my mom, of course, for always being there to encourage and empower me.

What charity(s) are you involved with?
That's a work in progress.

What local community change would you like to see?
I’d like to see more and increasingly better solutions to our homeless problem. And I’d like to see more resources devoted to mental health.
